Architecture of Growth – Horsetail (Equisetum sp.)

Rising from the forest floor, young horsetail shoots form an almost architectural composition of layered textures, repeating patterns and contrasting tones. Deep brown protective sheaths give way to fresh green tissue, revealing a brief stage of growth that is easy to pass without noticing.

The close perspective transforms these small botanical forms into a study of structure and emergence. Soft natural light separates the shoots from the muted background, allowing their intricate surfaces and subtle colour transitions to become the focus of the image.
