Lamellar Vault shifts attention beneath the mushroom cap, where closely arranged gills radiate outward around the stem and create an intricate, almost architectural structure.
Photographed from ground level, the composition transforms the underside of a woodland mushroom into the dominant feature of the image. Soft light passes through the cap and gills, revealing subtle transitions between pale yellow, olive and green tones, while the central stem anchors the radial pattern.
Mosses, grasses and low woodland vegetation surround the specimen, providing both scale and environmental context. The shallow, softly receding background keeps the mushroom visually isolated while preserving the sense of a living forest-floor habitat.
Created using a focus stack of 45 photographs, the image retains fine structural detail throughout the mushroom while maintaining a gentle atmospheric depth around it.
